The day I got married, one of my closest friends looked me in the eye and said "God has many wild and wonderful things ahead for you and Jeremy."

Being called mom by 7 kids is definitely wild. Each day I look for the wonder in it all...and give thanks.

Partnering with my husband in life, parenting, work and serving is definitely wonderful. He is my favorite.

The Season is Over

The Astros' season is over, which means the Wes and Jeremy Post-Game Show is over too. No more texts and calls in the middle of the game to talk about the play that just happened—first checking in to see if the other is live or behind in the game. No more late-night rants on what should have happened or celebrations of what happened…at least not for the next six months.

The love for the game is not just a spring fling for these two. For years, it's been nurtured by sitting in the nosebleed seats at the ballpark, carrying their gloves to catch balls during batting practice or foul balls that might come their way, and capturing countless photos with the diamond as a backdrop.

When we got rid of cable in 2011, and before all the streaming services took off, we started listening to the game on the radio. Maybe that’s how Wes honed his skills in announcing. In 2011, 2012, and 2013, the Astros experienced 100-loss seasons, much like the team that just swept them in the first two games of the post-season. But the Astros came out of that streak and made the playoffs in 2015. Wesley's love for the game and for the Astros grew with him from grade school to now.

Last night, as he and Jeremy signed off after a lengthy commentary about the last game and the season as a whole, Wesley shared, “Maybe there’s a kid in Chicago who is falling in love with the White Sox, and he’ll get to watch them turn three seasons of 100+ losses into a winning streak that eventually leads them to become champions.”
